Republican People’s Party Edirne Deputy Assoc. Dr. Okan Gaytancıoğlu drew attention to the increasing heating costs of the citizens in his statement in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Gaytancıoğlu said, “Winter has come and citizens are spending the day with blankets in one room, but bills have started to come to their homes, almost 3 times of last year. Natural gas is not burned, it burns the bill,” he said.

Stating that the cost of heating, whether natural gas or coal, tripled last year and that the citizens had great difficulty in paying their bills, Assoc. Dr. Gaytancıoğlu said in his statement: “Winter has arrived, the citizens are spending their days in one room, under the blanket, but bills have started to come to their homes, almost 3 times of last year. Natural gas is not burned, it burns the bill.

‘Light the coal.’ If you say, in Edirne, which is my constituency, the domestic coal produced in our province has increased from 600 lira to 2,200 lira, which has increased 3 times. So whatever you burn, you have a burning pocket. Looks like this winter is going to be tough. It seems that the only place in the country that will be heated will be the palace. While the people are freezing, the courtiers will enjoy the heat. Our poor citizens, who could not pay their natural gas bills and buy coal, started to burn whatever they could find. The bulb exploded, but the damage is unbearable. We will bring spring to our country by sending off this palace power, which condemned our people to live by freezing in the frosty ground, in the first election. Beautiful days await us in the summer sun.”
