Republican People’s Party Kırklareli Deputy Parliamentary Environment Committee Member Vecdi Gündoğdu brought the paper factory planned to be built in Kırklareli Organized Industrial Zone to the agenda of the Parliament.
“LOCATION OF THE PAPER FACTORY IS IN THE GROUNDWATER FEEDING ZONE”
Vecdi Gündoğdu, CHP Kırklareli Deputy, Member of the Parliamentary Environment Committee, took the floor in the Parliament about the paper factory planned to be built in Kırklareli Organized Industrial Zone.
“The paper production factory project, which was planned to be built in Kırklareli Organized Industrial Zone, which could cause serious and irreparable damage to the ecology of our region, was stopped in November as a result of our struggle at the IDK meeting of the Ministry of Environment. The related project will be re-introduced on 13 January, supposedly revised. The settlement location of the paper mill is in the groundwater recharge zone. According to scientific data, we all know that 85 percent of the underground water resources of the Thrace region are depleted. From where and how will the factory’s 12 thousand cubic meters of water per day and an average of 4.3 million cubic meters per year be supplied? In today’s world, where groundwater is considered even more valuable than oil, what is the reason for giving water to a facility that will be used by half of Kırklareli’s population?
