The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the results of the Address Based Population Registration System for the year 2022. Accordingly, the population of the three provinces in Thrace increased this year as well as last year. Tekirdağ became the second province with the highest population growth in Turkey with a population growth rate of 25.8%.
According to the data announced by TUIK, the population of Tekirdağ became 1 million 142 thousand 451 with an increase of 25.8%, the population of Edirne became 414 thousand 714 with an increase of 6.3%, and the population of Kırklareli became 369 thousand 347 with an increase of 8.1%.
According to statistics, all three provinces in Thrace received immigration from abroad. While the population increased in Kırklareli and Edirne provincial and district centers, a small decrease was observed in villages and rural areas.
As of 31 December 2022, the population residing in Turkey increased by 599 thousand 280 people compared to the previous year and reached 85 million 279 thousand 553 people. While the male population was 42 million 704 thousand 112 people, the female population was 42 million 575 thousand 441 people. In other words, 50.1% of the total population was men and 49.9% were women.
According to the results of the Address Based Population Registration System (ADNKS), the foreign population (1) residing in our country increased by 31 thousand 800 people compared to the previous year and reached 1 million 823 thousand 836 people. 49.5% of this population was men and 50.5% were women.
