Edirne 8th Book Days, attended by 37 distinguished publishing houses and 70 authors, was visited by 40 thousand 37 people. A cultural feast was experienced in this meaningful organization where autograph days and interviews were also held.
Organized by Edirne Municipality and eagerly awaited by Edirne and Thrace region every year, Edirne Book Days opened its doors to visitors with the opening ceremony where the Guest of Honor was Ataol Behramoğlu.
Edirne 8th Book Days, organized for the first time this year at Edirne Municipality Atatürk Cultural Center and Municipality Conservatory, hosted valuable authors this weekend as well. The people of Edirne showed great interest in Edirne Book Days, where autograph days and interviews took place.
Saturday, October 15, Journalist/Writer Saygı Öztürk signed her books for her readers, while Enver Aysever met with book lovers with his talk titled “Being a Novelist in the Age of Social Media” and then the signing day.
CHP Deputy Ali Mahir Basarir took part in the 8th Edirne Book Days with the talk and signing day called “The Gang of Five”.
İhsan Eliacik met with his readers with his interview titled “The Rights of the Slavs in the Qur’an” and the signing day, “Turkey Towards Elections; İbrahim Varlı and Berkant Gültekin met with book lovers at Edirne 8th Book Days with their talk on “Current View Inside and Outside” and autograph session.
On Sunday, October 16, between the hours of 13-16, Sözcü newspaper writer and journalist Sinan Meydan came together with his readers at the signing day of his book and interview titled “From the Great Victory to the Republic”.
While 37 distinguished publishing houses and 70 authors participated in the Edirne 8th Book Days held between 7-16 October, 40 thousand 37 people visited the Edirne 8th Book Days. For 10 days, schools also organized a trip to book days. In this context, a total of 7 thousand 845 students from Edirne center, districts and surrounding provinces and districts visited.
Stating that there was almost a cultural feast in this meaningful organization where autograph days and interviews were held, Mayor Recep Gürkan thanked the writers from Edirne for not leaving them alone. Gürkan said, “Edirne Book Days hosted valuable authors. Edirne once again demonstrated its difference with the value it places on books, knowledge and enlightenment. A heartfelt thank you to all my fellow countrymen. Always stay with the book,” he said.
