CHP Edirne Deputy Assoc. Dr. Okan Gaytancıoğlu supported the residents of Müsellim Farm, who protested the conversion of the pasture into a field in the Büyükcami District of Edirne’s Keşan district. Gaytancıoğlu said, “We are warning the authorities here. Don’t do these things because we need pasture. If you do these things, we will continue to follow you.”
CHP Edirne Deputy Okan Gaytancıoğlu visited Müsellim Farm and listened to the citizens dealing with animal husbandry. Gaytancıoğlu pointed out that the pasture was turned into a field while the land consolidation was being carried out, and said:
“WHY DID THE LIVESTOCK FINISH?”
“There were 12-13 households living here, but most of them were stockbreeding. Because where we were was pasture. They plowed the pasture in land consolidation. ‘How is it going’ you say? They changed their qualification. The side is pasture, here is pasture, and below is pasture, but they have changed their quality, turned it into a field, and they can no longer graze animals. Why did farming end? Why are we slaughtering dairy cows now? We have a feed problem, but this is how we plow the existing pasture. Will this place get old when it’s driven? We warn the authorities here. Don’t do these things because we need pasture. The pastures are constitutionally protected to graze animals, but if you do these things by turning them into fields, we will continue to follow you. We’ll find out who did it.”
İsmail Konukçu, who lives on the farm, claimed that the pasture was converted into the field for rent, and said, “They did this for rent. Or he will rent it to himself. This is off the record,” he said.
