“Our problem is not only to protect the position that İmamoğlu deserves. Our problem is to fulfill the will of the Istanbul electorate. Republic of Turkeyto protect its democratic values. Yesterday, the judiciary was once again politicized. Our issue is above politics. We are in different political parties. But we all say with the same loud voice, human dignity, fundamental rights and freedoms, democratic rule of law…
Whatever values I defended in the Metropolitan Municipality building on April 21, 1998, whatever values I defended on the television screens and in the national and international press on the evening of July 15, 2016, I am here and I will be here to defend the same values.
I am calling out to the power holders from here, do not let your absolute power deceive you. Many absolute power holders have been deceived in the past… They are gone, but our nation’s love of democracy remained and will remain. There is the power you hold in that palm of yours, that power; Every time you squeeze it so as not to lose it, it burns you like a burning fire, return to the conscience of the nation.

From here, I am calling out to the voters of the Nationalist Movement Party: National unity, our future is not protected by declaring everyone who does not think like us terrorists. The basis of national sovereignty is the national will. Whoever reaches out to the national will is the real terrorist. Without the national will, the homeland cannot be protected, the nation cannot be united, the state cannot be made strong.

Our issue is not who will take which position, we are not after positions. Our aim is to build Turkey’s future as a new country that our youth will never think of leaving.”
