CHP Tekirdag Deputy Dr. Candan Yüceer submitted a parliamentary question regarding the unaccompanied minors who survived the earthquakes affecting 11 provinces in Kahramanmaraş, asking the Minister of Family and Social Services Derya Yanık to answer. Dr. Yüceer asked Minister Yanık, “Is it true that the claims that unaccompanied earthquake victims are hosted by various associations, sects and congregations?” posed the question.
“ARE THE ALLEGATIONS CORRECT THAT THE CHILDREN WERE HOSTED BY VARIOUS ASSOCIATIONS, STRICES AND CONCITIONS IN THE EARTHQUAKE WHICH LEFT UNaccompanied?”
CHP PM Member, Tekirdağ Deputy Dr. Candan Yüceer submitted a parliamentary question regarding the unaccompanied minors who survived the earthquakes affecting 11 provinces in Kahramanmaraş with the request of the Minister of Family and Social Services Derya Yanık to answer. Dr. Yüceer asked Minister Yanık, “Is it true that the claims that unaccompanied earthquake victims are hosted by various associations, sects and congregations?” posed the question.
Dr. Yüceer made the following statements in his motion:
“Work continues after the earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş every 9 hours and caused destruction in 11 provinces. It is claimed that many children lost their families or children disappeared due to the earthquake. It is claimed that since the first days of the earthquake, some children of earthquake victims have not been taken care of by the state. After the earthquakes, many children who survived the earthquake were left unaccompanied. There are even search advertisements for some children and there are still unidentified children in hospitals.
ALLEGATIONS REFLECTED IN THE PRESS
On the other hand, the allegations that the unaccompanied children were sheltered by various associations, sects and communities were reflected in the press. In these reports, it is claimed that the children affected by the Earthquake are not under the supervision of the ministry, but under the supervision of the aforementioned communities and sects. It is clear that the trauma experienced by earthquake survivors should be under state protection without being abused. Uncontrolled sects and congregations pose as great a danger to earthquake-affected children as the earthquake.”
QUESTIONS FROM YÜCEER TO MINISTER YANIK
CHP’s Dr. The questions that Yüceer asked Minister Yanık to answer are as follows;
1.) How many children affected by the earthquakes were left unaccompanied?
2.) In which cities are the unaccompanied minors housed, specifying the province and number?
3.) Are children who lost their first degree relatives handed over to their second and third degree relatives? If so, how many have been delivered?
4.) Are the claims that the unaccompanied children of the earthquake are hosted by various associations, sects and communities true? If true, at what stage is the process regarding these claims?
5.) What kind of studies are carried out to help unaccompanied children overcome the trauma of earthquake?
