CHP Tekirdag Deputy Dr. Candan Yüceer said that since the 46-kilometer Hayrabolu – Tekirdağ road, which has been under construction for 6 years, could not be completed, fatal accidents continue on the road known as the “death road” by the people of Tekirdağ. Dr. Yüceer said, “Our lives are dying on this road, the whole Ministry cannot complete the 46-kilometer road in 6 years. Pity,” he said.
“KOSKACA MINISTRY CANNOT FINISH THE 46-KILOMETER ROAD IN 6 YEARS”
CHP PM Member, Tekirdağ Deputy Dr. Candan Yüceer brought the Hayrabolu – Tekirdağ road, which had not been completed for 6 years, to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, after the injury of 27-year-old Gökay Çakmak, who took place on the Hayrabolu – Tekirdağ road on January 28, 2023 and lost his life to 25-year-old Berke Çetinkaya. Giving a parliamentary question to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, Dr. Yüceer said, “Our lives are dying on this road, the whole Ministry cannot complete the 46-kilometer road in 6 years. Pity,” he said.
ONLY 20 KM FINISHED IN 6 YEARS, IT WAS OPENED 2 TIMES
The construction of the 46-kilometer road that will connect the central Süleymanpaşa district and Hayrabolu, the tender of which was launched in 2012, started in 2017. 20 kilometers of the road, which is planned to be completed in 2019, has been completed so far. The 7-kilometer part of the road was opened by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop, and the other part was opened by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu. Bringing the issue to the Parliament’s agenda before, Dr. Answering Yüceer’s proposal, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Hayrabolu-Tekirdağ State Highway; It is 45.7 km long and 20 km part of it has been completed as a divided road with bituminous hot mixture pavement and opened to traffic. The road construction works between Ortaca and Karabezirgan are continuing”.
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ROAD TURNED INTO THE STORY OF THE SNAKE
Stating that the Hayrabolu – Tekirdağ road construction turned into a snake story, Dr. Yüceer said, “We all know that road building is one of the most proud acts of the AKP government. However, there is such a road in Tekirdağ that all of them are 46 kilometers, but only 20 kilometers have been completed in the road construction that has been going on for 6 years, and the opening ceremony was held twice for this 20 kilometer section. The construction of the road turned into a snake story,” he said.
“END THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY”
Reminding that the people of Tekirdağ call this road the “way of death”, Dr. Yüceer said, “This road is a road with frequent and sharp turns, so there are too many blind spots along the way. Therefore, there are many accidents with injuries and loss of life on the road. Our lives are dying on the Hayrabolu – Tekirdağ road because the AKP government has not finished its construction for 6 years. At every opportunity, he asked the ministry, ‘Why does this road not end? Why isn’t it progressing? We ask why it moves at a turtle’s pace, but our questions remain unanswered. Our explanations remain unanswered. In the recent accident, our 25-year-old fellow countryman Berke Çetinkaya lost his life, and Gökay Çakmak was seriously injured. This indifference of yours is happening to our souls who lost their lives on this road due to your ignorance, and to their grieving families left behind. From here, I call out to the Ministry of Transport once again, finish the construction of this road immediately. If you can’t finish, if you can’t, if you won’t finish, if you don’t have such an intention, our Metropolitan Municipality is here, they will undertake the construction of this road.
QUESTIONS FROM YÜCEER TO THE MINISTER
CHP’s Dr. The questions that Yüceer asked Minister Karaismailoğlu to answer are as follows:
1- At what stage is the Hayrabolu – Tekirdağ divided double road works?
2- When is the Hayrabolu – Tekirdağ road planned to be completed and put into service?
3- What measures are planned by your Ministry to prevent traffic accidents and prevent further loss of life and property until the road construction is completed on the road known as the ‘way of death’ among the people?
4- How much appropriation is allocated for this road in 2023?
5- How many accidents have occurred on this road since 2017? How many people were injured and how many died in the accidents?
6- Is it true that the Hayrabolu – Tekirdağ split double road works have been stopped due to the power transmission line poles between Ortaca – Banarlı? If true, do you have a solution plan for this problem? When will the work on this part be resumed?
7- Is it true that the expropriations made for the route where the energy transmission line between Ortaca and Banarlı passes are not annotated in the title deed? Who is responsible for this? Has action been taken against those responsible?
8- Who is responsible for passing the road project on the route where the energy transmission lines are located? Is there any negligence in this regard? If yes, has any action been taken against those concerned?
9- How much will the displacement of the energy transmission lines cost the public? Has any agreement been reached with TEIAS on this issue? Who will pay the expropriation fees paid for the existing route of the energy transmission lines and to be paid for the area to be displaced? Who is responsible for this public damage if there is negligence?
10- Is an accident expected for the barriers to be placed near the Kandamış, Yörükler and Ortaca neighborhoods of the section between Hayrabolu and Ortaca, which was officially opened? Has any action been taken against the General Directorate of Highways or the contractor company regarding the lack of barriers? Who will be responsible for the loss of life in a possible accident?
